Managers
The materials provided here are intended to assist management with understanding the layoff process and the applicable provisions of University policy and the collective bargaining agreements.
As the department faces difficult staffing decisions, it’s critical to treat all employees humanely, compassionately, equitably, and within the terms of personnel policy and contract obligations. Planning how and when to communicate changes to staff is essential.
If your department is considering staff reductions, a Labor and Employee Relations (LER) Analyst is available to assist. The LER Analyst can answer questions on the layoff process, notice obligations, rehire and recall rights, communicating with staff about layoffs, and accomplishing reductions to help insure compliance with University policy and labor contracts.
