Rising Medical Plan Costs
UC continues to be impacted by the rising costs of medical insurance. In fact, UC will pay $673 million to fund employee health care in 2007—$50 million more than in 2006. This means that both UC and individual employees will be paying higher monthly premiums for medical insurance in 2007. Though costs are increasing, we are fortunate because UC still continues to pay a significant percentage of our medical plan premiums each month, and UC fully pays the premium for our dental and vision coverage. HCRA and TIP—Take Charge of Health Care Expenses
The UC Tax Savings on Insurance Premiums (TIP) Program combined with a Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) can reduce your taxes — and lessen the impact of medical plan premium increases. For more information go to HCRA and TIP Help Employees Take Charge of Health Care Expenses.
