Structure of Temporary Employment Program Is Changing
Following discussions with UCSF’s leadership and the recharge committee, the structure of the Temporary Employment Program (TEP) will be changing. Currently, departments with UCSF employees on temporary assignment through the internal TEP pay for the employee’s salary and a mark-up of 31.6 percent to cover benefits and administration costs. Going forward, departments will pay for the employee’s salary and benefits and a significantly reduced mark-up of 14.7 percent to cover administration costs. If you have questions regarding this change, please contact Larry Hickey at 476-8057 or .
Consider Flexible Spending Accounts during Open Enrollment
The Open Enrollment period is the time to enroll or re-enroll in a FSA. Unlike your medical/dental/optical plans, FSAs require re-enrollment every plan year.
It’s the tax-advantage! If you anticipate having $180 (or more) in out-of-pocket expenses, consider enrolling. Read more about the advantages of a Health FSA or Dependent Care (DepCare) FSA and review examples. Calculate your savings and increased take-home pay with the Health Calculator and the DepCare Calculator. View the list of reimbursable, over-the-counter drugs and medical supplies, which do not require a prescription from a provider.
CONEXIS continues to be the Administrator for UC’s Flexible Spending Accounts for plan year 2010.
Spending FSA Dollars on eligible healthcare expenses is easy with CONEXIS’ Health Flexible Spending Account Benefit Card. Be sure to always save your receipts--CONEXIS or the IRS might need to verify that the purchase is a valid FSA expense.
To learn more, visit CONEXIS’ pre-enrollment website, read the FAQs or speak to a CONEXIS representative at UC’s Open Enrollment Support line at 1-800-482-4120 (M-F) between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Stay-at-Home / Return-to-Work Guidelines for Flu-Like Symptoms
Due to the additional burden on doctors’ offices and medical facilities during the current flu season, supervisors should keep in mind that it may be difficult for employees to obtain medical verification of illness in order to justify absences. If you have questions about whether or not such verification should be requested, please contact your Employee Relations Consultant.
