CUE Agrees to Participate in Modified START Program

In the February 20, 2009 HR Update publication, information was communicated that the Staff and Academic Reduction in Time (START) Program was modified to lower the minimum allowable reduction in time from 10 percent to 5 percent. This change was effective March 1, 2009 for employees who were paid monthly and March 8, 2009 for employees who were paid bi-weekly. The applicability of the modification to represented employees was dependent upon agreement by the relevant union.  The University has now received confirmation from the Coalition of University Employees (CUE) that employees may participate in the modified program in accordance with departmental approval.

For a description of the process for implementing reductions under the START Program at UCSF, visit the HR website. Staff questions related to this policy may be directed to Michael Lum at .
