UC Retirement Plan Contributions Increased July 1

Employees will notice a change in their net take home pay starting with their next paycheck.  This is due to the July 1, 2012 increase to the UCRP contribution rate.  Employees paid bi-weekly will notice the increased deduction effective with their paycheck on July 18, 2012.  For employees paid on a monthly basis, the increase will reflect on their August 1, 2012 paycheck.

Family Member Verification Audit Update

In March of 2012 UC initiated the Family Member Eligibility Verification (FMV) project requiring all faculty, staff and retirees who have enrolled family member in their medical, dental and/or vision plans to provide documents to verify their family members’ eligibility for coverage. Because of the size of the project, UC hired an outside vendor, Secova, to administer the project.

Phase I of this project, covering all employees and retirees with enrolled dependents as of February 1, 2012 is almost complete. A status summary of the project, which is already projecting a $10 million dollar annual savings to the University, can be found in the June 18th news article on At Your Service.

During June, Secova contacted non-responsive employees directly and engaged them in the FMV process to prevent the loss of benefits coverage. Employees that did not comply by the extended deadline of June 30, 2012 will receive a letter in July stating that their coverage including medical, dental, vision and legal as applicable, will end effective Sept 30, 2012.

Employees who have questions about this process, or still need to submit documents, should work with Secova directly. Secova is able to provide assistance in multiple languages.

Family Member Verification – Phase II and Phase III
Phase II will begin in July and will include all current and new employees that added dependents after Feb 1 through June 15, 2012.  These employees will receive a FMV packet in early July and be expected to comply by July 31st.

Phase III will include all current and new employees that added dependents after June 15 through Aug 17, 2012.  These employees will receive a FMV packet in early Sept and have a deadline of Sept 30th.  The ongoing FMV process is continuing to be evaluated and additional news about the timeline will be provided as it becomes available.

More information on the project, including FAQ’s, required documents and other resources can be found on At Your Service.
