2009 Annual Contribution Limits for 403(b) and 457(b) Plans
The Internal Revenue Service recently announced the 2009 Maximum Annual Contribution (MAC) limit for retirement plans. That means the MAC limit for the UC Retirement Savings Program’s 403(b) Plan and/or 457(b) Plan will increase to $16,500. For employees who are age 50 as of December 31, 2009, the limit will be $22,000. In addition, some employees may be eligible to make additional contributions under the lifetime catch-up provisions of the plans.
Employees who wish to maximize their contributions to each plan may want to increase contributions for 2009 based on these contribution limits. Log on to Fidelity NetBenefits or call Fidelity Retirement Services (1-866-682-7787) for details.
New Layoff Information & Resources Website Launches
In our effort to improve service levels and resources available to the campus community, Human Resources has revised and consolidated all campus layoff information into one location. The new website includes:
- New sections for Managers, Employees and Resources
- FAQs for managers and employees
- Direct links (when available) to the specific contract articles or policy governing layoffs
- Revised and updated Layoff Guidelines
- Improved navigation within the site to access this information
Our goal in developing this new website is to provide managers and employees with access to all relevant information related to layoffs, a better understanding of the layoff process and to insure that all layoffs comply with policy and contract provisions.
