UC Ethical Values and Conduct Training
Ethics and Compliance Training for All Employees will be released mid-February by the Office of the President. The purpose of this briefing is to reinforce the Statement of Ethical Values and standards of Ethical Conduct and provide information about reporting instances of non-compliance.
As a reminder, this is the final mandatory compliance briefing referenced in President Yudof’s memorandum of July, 2009 and targets all UC employees who were not identified as needing to complete the Compliance Briefing for Researchers. Key Implementation Points
- Online course will be rolled out via the UCSF Learning Center in mid-February, 2010
- Deadline for completing this briefing will be December 31, 2010.
- Course delivery methods can be customized.
- Online through the UCSF Learning Center
- Instructor-led (face to face) sessions
- Presentation at unit/department staff meetings
- Employees will be notified via email of their requirement to complete the course and will be reminded several times throughout this calendar year, with particular focus during the 90 days previous to the deadline.

Central Line Training Module for Providers
The UCSF Medical Center Chief Medical Officer distributed a broad email communication to all UCSF Faculty and Attendings regarding the Central Line Training Module for providers. Unless you perform or supervise this procedure on UCSF patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting, you may disregard the email and do not need to complete this course. We apologize for the error and any inconvenience caused.
ESL – English as a Second Language
Does your unit have entry level staff that will benefit from basic training in English as a Second Language? ESL training is now available at UCSF.
Working together, the Campus and Medical Center have partnered with City College of San Francisco to create a 10-week basic ESL course tailored to meet on-the-job needs of UCSF employees. Employees who completed the class will improve their conversational English comprehension, pronunciation, and task specific phrasing and vocabulary.
Registration is open from January 18, 2010 – March 18, 2010. Managers will register approved employees who are committed to completing this program. Prior to registering employees, please speak with Linda Gregory, ESL Project Manager, at 353-7735, .
Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in San Francisco at 2260 Geary Boulevard, Training Room B. Upcoming dates:

- February 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23 or 25
- March 2, 4, 9, 11, 16 or 18
Coaching for Improved Performance
This classroom session helps managers identify performance obstacles and develop techniques in addressing employee performance. You will gain practical skills and have the opportunity to practice using coaching strategies to create more productive teams.
