Get a Jump Start on Wellness with UC’s New Wellness Program!

Do your New Year’s Resolutions include:

You will be happy to know that UC Living Well has launched a new personalized program, administered by ’StayWell Health Management‘ to empower and support employees in focusing on health and wellness.

The StayWell Program is free and available to eligible faculty and staff and their family members age 18+ enrolled in a UC sponsored medical plan and living in the U.S. with the exception of Kaiser members (Kaiser members continue to have access to Kaiser’s fully integrated wellness resources).

StayWell Benefits Include:

We are currently developing our own Wellness Program at UCSF that will serve to enhance the wellness resources already offered at the University and will be available to ‘all’ faculty/staff.  To kick-off our event we plan to start a ‘Walking Program’!  We hope the ‘Walking Program’ will serve as a fun way for employees to enhance their health and to meet like minded people - more news on this to come in the following months.

Start the New Year off right by going to the UC Living Well site to take advantage of your Wellness Resources!

Please note the leadership of the unions at UC - AFSCME 3299, CNA, CUE, SETC, UAW 2863, UC-AFT, and UPTE-CWA - have notified the University that they are choosing not to participate in the StayWell Health Management benefits program on behalf of their UC bargaining unit members.  Union members with questions should contact their union.*

* AFSCME 3299 on behalf of SX (Service Unit), EX (Patient Care Technical), and K7 (Skilled Crafts at UC Santa Cruz); CNA on behalf of NX (Nurse Unit); CUE on behalf of CX (Clerical Unit); SETC on behalf of K6 and K4 Skilled Trades at San Diego and Los Angeles; UAW 2863 on behalf of BX (Academic Student Employees Unit); UC-AFT on behalf of IX (Non-Academic Senate Instructional Unit) and LX (Professional Librarians Unit); and UPTE-CWA on behalf of RX (Research Support Professionals Unit), TX (Technical Unit) and HX (Health Care Professionals Unit).

Reminder About the Personnel Data Form

The Personnel Data Form is used when employees are hired or report a change of address.  Some time ago, the University negotiated a change in this form with three unions: CUE, AFSCME and UPTE.  Specifically, the language on the form related to the release of an employee’s home address was modified.  For employees in bargaining units represented by these three unions, departments should utilize the UPAY 544A form.  For all other employees, departments should utilize the UPAY 544 form.  Both forms can be found on the Office of the President’s website at http://www.ucop.edu/payroll/forms.htm.

Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) Spending Card Update

Spending Cards Are Good for Three Years

If you are enrolled in the UC Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) program and use a SHPS spending account card, you should know that cards issued to you and any family members can be used for three consecutive calendar years after issuance—provided that you are enrolled in HCRA each year. You must re-enroll in HCRA each year during Open Enrollment to have an account in the coming year.  Here is what this means to you:

HCRA 2007 Grace Period

Those employees enrolled in HCRA that still have money in their accounts from 2007 have until March 15, 2008 to incur eligible expenses and until June 15, 2008, to submit claims and required documentation to SHPS to request reimbursement.  These dates are based on IRS guidelines and are strictly adhered to, so once again please make note of these dates:

For more information please visit the ’At Your Service’, SHPS page.
