“Time off to Vote” Notices
California State law requires employers to post a notice to employees advising them of provisions for taking time off to vote in statewide elections. With the November 7th election approaching, please ensure that notices are posted either in the workplace or where it can be seen by employees as they enter or exit their place of work. The notices must be posted no later than October 27, 2006. Below is a link to the State’s website, which includes further information on this requirement as well as a link to the notice.
Employees are eligible for paid time off for the purpose of voting only if they do not have sufficient time outside of working hours to vote. Please check the applicable collective bargaining agreement or personnel policy for specifics. Any questions should be directed to your assigned Labor and Employee Relations Analyst.
