Furlough Plan Questions & Answers
Our campus leaders, including the chancellor, vice chancellors, deans and medical center chief executive officer, are aware that faculty and staff have many questions about the system-wide furlough plan the University of California Regents approved in July and how it will be implemented.
Check out the updated list of questions and answers. Please distribute this information to employees who may not have access to email.
Workers’ Compensation Claims Reporting Hotline
No one plans to be injured on the job, but if a work-related injury or illness does happen, follow these three steps:
- Report the injury to your supervisor as soon as possible.
- Get medical treatment.
- Report your injury to Sedgwick CMS by calling this toll free number: 1-877-682-7778.
Prompt reporting of an injury or illness helps expedite authorization for needed medical treatment and prescriptions. This toll free reporting hot line is staffed 24 hours per day. Help us help you.

Serving You: Temporary Employment Program
Our “serving you” series reminds you and your staff about the comprehensive selection of services the Human Resources department provides to the University community. We want to keep you informed about the services we provide, as well as reacquaint you with the people who administer them. We encourage collaboration with your department and our office, and welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your staff at any time.
Featured this week:
Temporary Employment Program: The UCSF Temporary Employment Program (TEP) provides temporary employees to assist Campus and Medical Center departments during times of staffing shortages, such as vacation and extended sick leaves, recruitment period, special projects, and furloughs. Our temporary employees are fully screened by our professional staff to provide our clients with the most qualified temporary assistance available for clerical and administrative positions. Our screening process includes a face-to-face interview with one of our TEP Analysts, skill evaluations, reference checks, and, when required, fingerprinting and background checks.
Last May, TEP implemented a new information management system (IMS) to streamline our ordering process and to enhance our client interactions with our program. The TEP IMS offers such features as online DPA/Fund verification, timesheet, invoice review, resume sharing, and, combined with our Job matrix, efficient order placement.
The goal of the TEP is to provide our clients with the most cost effective, efficient temporary service possible. Your continued feedback and support has assisted us in enhancing our program and providing a much needed service. We look forward to continuing our partnership. If you need temporary assistance, please call TEP at 476-4486 or email . We are here to serve you.
